THE CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN is scheduled for Sunday, May 18. Half of all proceeds collected remains in our diocese and helps fund local diocesan communication efforts. The remainder of the collection supports national Catholic communication efforts. Please use your special offering envelopes to assure proper accounting.

 

YOUTH GROUP MOVIE

High school students and 7th and 8th graders of St. Mary’s are invited to see “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”. The group will attend the 7:00 p.m. showing on Sunday, May 18th. Special ticket price is $5.00. Come to the Atrium at 6:00 for food. Group will depart at 6:30. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Call 445-9668 by Wednesday evening to reserve a ticket. Father Thomas could use some back up drivers if enough parents are not recruited by Wednesday.

 

 

MASS IN POLISH AND PROCESSION

On May 18th, Mass in the Polish language will be celebrated here at 3:00 p.m. A Corpus Christi procession around the property will follow Mass.

 

KNIGHTS of COLUMBUS PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Benefiting St. Mary Library is scheduled for next Sunday, May 18th from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Adults: $6.00, Seniors: $4.00, H.S. students: $5.00, Students (8th grade and under): $4.00, Children two and under—let’em eat off your plate. Please come support this worthy cause.

 

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS NEEDED

THE BELLS OF ST. MARY’S BAA CAMPAIGN

This year, our Bishop’s Annual Appeal goal is $48,000.  Everything pledged above that amount is returned to St. Mary’s.  We are asking for a three year pledge to provide some tuition assistance to needy students in our school and to restore our historic parish structures.  Parishioners will say a few words after communion at the masses of May 17 and 18.  If you could not come to one of the information receptions, a packet will be mailed to you.

 

McARTHUR APPEAL

Items needed for the St. Francis Center are soap products, toilet tissue, household items, bedding, furniture, and summer clothing. Small items may be left in the rear of the church. For pick up of larger items contact Catherine at 443-6154. The trip to McArthur is scheduled for June 2, 2008.

 

CATHOLIC CEMETERIES

Offices at St. Joseph, Resurrection, and Holy Cross Cemeteries will be open on Sundays, May 4, 11, and 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family Service Advisors will be available to assist families with pre-need arrangements and answer questions.

 

RITE OF ORDINATION

Saturday, May 24th, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral, 212 E. Broad St., Columbus.

With Praise and Thanksgiving to Almighty God the Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus requests the honor of your presence at the Ordination of Stanley (Stash) Lisska Daily, David Anthony Schalk, and Victor Ray Wesolowski to the Sacred Priesthood of our Lord Jesus Christ. 

 

31st annual senior citizen day on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Road, Columbus. Bishop Campbell will celebrate Mass at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served following Mass. The cost is $10.00. Registration forms are available in the back of church, under the picture of the Pope.

 

YOUNG ADULTS

Are you looking for a fun way to learn more about your Catholic faith and meet people who share it? Join us for Theology and a Pub at the Columbus Maennerchor, 966 So. High St., on Thursday, May 22nd.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the discussion begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is just $2.00, and food and drink are available for purchase. This month’s speaker is Mark Butler, director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry in the Diocese of Columbus. He will tell us the story of how we got to be the diocese we are today.

 

ST. MARY HIGH SCHOOL REUNION PICNIC

HOME & SCHOOL NEWS

The Home & School Association is renting tables in front of the school for the Village Valuable Sale on Saturday, May 17th from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. One table for $25.00; two tables for $40.00. Rent a table or two, all profits are yours to keep. Call the school office at 444-8994 to rent your tables!!  Home and School will also sponsor a FOOD STAND during this event. In addition to all the bargains awaiting you come and enjoy breakfast, brats and baked goods from 7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. 

 

ST. MARY SCHOOL UPDATE

Ø       The annual Grandparent luncheon and May

crowning ceremony are taking place Monday, May 5th. The May Crowning is at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome to join us for this beautiful tribute to our Blessed Mother. Reservations and payment in advance are required for the lunch for your child’s grandparent(s) who are attending. This is also the day we take 8th grade graduation pictures along with a group photograph.  We request that 8th graders dress in the outfit they will wear for graduation.

 

Ø       Two of our students, Alec Kaple and Lloyd Furuta,

received recognition certificates for their participation in the 2008 Midwest Academic Talent Search with over 27,000 entrants of the most able third through ninth grade students in the Midwest. They qualified for the search by attaining outstanding academic achievement in the math and/or verbal areas. Congratulations to Alec and Lloyd!! Thank you for representing us so well.

 

BISHOP HARTLEY CHOIR RETURNING

The Bishop Hartley Choir will hold their 2008 spring concert here in the church at 7:00 p.m. on Mon., May 19th.
