DAILY MASS CHANGE REMINDER:  The noon mass will NOT be celebrated on May 5th. It will be moved to May 8th. This is due to diocesan events.


YOUTH GROUP NEWS:  Plan to come with the Parish youth to a showing of the film “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.”  The group will go to the 7:00 showing on Sunday, May 18th.  The group is open to St. Mary high school students and 7th and 8th graders in our school. Our parish celebration of First Holy Communion will be on Saturday, May 3rd at the 4:00 Mass.  It will be more crowded than usual, of course, as grandparents and other visitors will be celebrating with us.



Bethesda Healing Ministry invites all those who grieve the death before birth of their child/children to a time of remembering and healing on Monday May 5th, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter Church, 6899 Smokey Row Road, Columbus, OH.



The spring 2008 session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th at 7:00 p.m.  Please see Deacon Minner for additional information. This is a quarterly conference held for parents seeking to have a child baptized.

Items needed for the St. Francis Center are soap products, toilet tissue, household items, bedding, furniture, and summer clothing. Small items may be left in the rear of the church. For pick up of larger items contact Catherine at 443-6154. The trip to McArthur is scheduled for June 2, 2008.


Offices at St. Joseph, Resurrection, and Holy Cross Cemeteries will be open on Sundays, May 4, 11, and 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family Service Advisors will be available to assist families with pre-need arrangements and answer questions.

Liturgical Music is Like Praying Twice!  Please consider joining one of our two choirs. No musical experience necessary! We are always looking for more voices to enhance our worship.  Consider giving your time and talent to this ministry.



Remember, our drive will start a little later this year so that folks can attend some information receptions about our two big goals:  tuition assistance for the neediest of our school students, and restoration of our historic church tower.



The St. Mary School Advisory Board is accepting nominations for two elected parishioner positions which expire this June. The SAB meets once a month, and a term is three years. If you are interested and would like to be on the ballot, please contact SAB President Tom Martello at 279-9440, or by e-mail at  The deadline for submissions is May 4, 2008.




Anyone that would like to volunteer to serve coffee and doughnuts between the 9:00 and 11:30 Mass is asked to contact Marge Smigelski at 871-8142. It only requires a commitment of one Sunday every couple months but new help would really be appreciated.




St. Mary's Home and School is having their annual flower sale, forms are available in the back of church and orders are due by April 30th with payment to the school office. Flower pick up is Friday, May 9th from noon to 6:00 pm on the front lawn of school.  Extra flowers will be available for purchase.



When laying out your vegetable garden this year, why not plant an extra plant or two whose produce can be given to the food pantry St. Mary’s supports?  The Southside Community Ministries feeds the needy each Saturday with take home sacks of staple items.  With your help, they can add some fresh produce to the sacks. Our parish operates the pantry on the second to last Saturday of each month.
