Monday Confessions: There will be a two month suspension of Monday confessions.  They will resume on September 17 immediately after the noon mass. 

Bible Study:  Mark Your Calendars for Weds, September 5th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  (Please note change in day)  The Bible Study is in its fifth year studying scripture, and having a blast doing it!  We will begin to study the Gospel of John!  For more information please contact Jason Shanks by calling him in the parish office at 445-9668 or  

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) will start up with a cookout and informational meeting on August 29th at 6:30pm on the back patio of the rectory.  If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, then RCIA is for you.  There is no commitment to becoming Catholic. Just come and learn about the faith and make decisions as you go.  All St. Mary’s parishioners are encouraged to begin praying for next year’s class and to invite those you know.  You are the greatest witness to the faith!  For more information please contact Jason Shanks at

Attention Young Adults-Are you looking for a fun and casual way to learn more about your Catholic faith? Theology and a Pub is a monthly series of talks at the Columbus Maennerchor, 966 S. High Street, in German Village. Admission is just $2. Food and drink are available for purchase. This month's talk,Thursday the 23rd, will be "Taking Root in America: Vatican 1 Isaac Hecker, and the Development of American Catholicism in the Late 9th Century", with Fr. Education and Networking Opportunity! Applications are now being accepted for Component I, a five- session education and networking opportunity, for parish laity and men discerning a call to the diaconate.  Developed by the Diocese of Columbus Ministry Formation Office, the program benefits participants as they discern personal gifts and talents, consider areas of service, and become more involved in their parish community.  Participants are introduced to the history & structure of the diocese, their rights and responsibilities in canon law, representatives of the diocesan offices & the resources they provide, enhanced communication skills, and the ongoing task of following the Gospel Message in everyday life.  Catechists/Catechetical Leaders will receive enrichment credit; teachers in the Catholic Schools may apply for 2.2 CEUs.  The five-session series will be held on the following Saturdays:  September 15, 22, October 6, 13, and November 3 at Sts. Volleyball Signups: We are starting to form girls and boys volleyball teams for the upcoming school year. Any student entering grade 4 to 8 is eligible to play volleyball as long as they attend St. Mary School or are members of St. Mary Church.  The cost to play is $50 or $58 if you need the mesh athletic short that goes with the jersey.  Interested players need to email Mr. David Oddi @ with your name and grade.  Deadline for signups is Friday, August 31. Finally, any high school student that wants to play CYO volleyball, please email Mr. Oddi also.

·  If you have not yet received your mailing with the student supply list please call the school office or stop by 7:30 – 3:30!

·  Schultuete Presentation – St. Mary School is continuing an old German tradition! On Monday, August 27th at 1:15 p.m. in the school gym, each first grade student will be presented with a Schultuete, a 75 cm tall decorated cone filled with sweets and supplies. The tradition celebrates the child’s first day of formal schooling and is meant to “sweeten the beginning” of the long years of schooling ahead. In addition to our school students, faculty and several local dignitaries have been invited.

Remember: the newspaper recycling bin has been removed for the festival. It will return soon, so please save your recyclable paper products until the end of August!
