This Sunday, July 22, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Reverend Daniel Torson, CPPS, D.Min. will present “Dorothy Day: A Woman Haunted By God” at the Jessing Center of The Pontifical College Josephinum. Dorothy Day (1897-1980) of New York City is nationally recognized for her work as the founder of the 20th century Catholic Worker Movement. Catholic Worker Houses of Hospitality, present in cities across the country, continue her legacy today. But, there is much more to Dorothy. She was an atheist in her college years and a journalist by profession. God kept “calling” her and God was relentless! It is a story of her faith journey that is the inspiration for contemporary journeys of faith! Dorothy Day’s spirituality and legacy is a treasured jewel of American Catholicism. Fr. Daniel Torson, D.Min. is a member of the Society of the Precious Blood, Kansas City Province. He has spent the past fourteen years in college campus ministry, teaching, and adult education. Currently, Fr. Torson is an Assistant Professor of Theology and Chaplain at Lewis University (sponsored by the Christian Brothers) in Romeoville (suburban Chicago), IL. He is also pursuing a Ph.D. in Christian Ethics at Loyola University Chicago with interests in virtue and narrative ethics.
