Attention All Young Adults: Mark your calendars for Tuesday May 8, 2007 from 7:30-9:00pm.  Young adults from across the diocese are meeting here at St. Mary’s rectory for a social, and a presentation by Father Thomas on “Being Catholic in the Workplace” with discussion and conversation after.  This is a great way to meet other young adults in our parish and diocese and a great way to learn more about our faith.  For more information and to RSVP contact Jason Shanks at jasonshanks@stmarygv.com or call 445-9668.

Annual Senior Citizen’s Day with the Bishop! Please join us for the 30th annual diocesan Senior Citizen’s Day Celebration with the bishop on Tuesday, May 8th at St. Catherine Catholic church, 500 S. Gould Rd. The day begins with Mass at 10:30am, followed by lunch and entertainment. To register call the diocesan Office for Social Concerns at 241-2540 by May 1st. Cost is $10.00.

THERE IS NO BINGO MAY 20so that our faithful volunteers can attend the Gala. As a matter of fact, there may be no more bingo at all if we do not get some more volunteers to donate about three hours a month.

WALK FOR LIFE! Please help support the Pregnancy Decision Health Centers by taking part in the Walk for Life on Saturday, May 12th at 9 A.M. at Genoa Park by COSI. This year, a 5K Run for Life will also be included just before the Walk at 8 A.M.! Each participant will receive a T-shirt regardless of sponsorship level. If May 12th is not convenient, you may walk anytime, anywhere, even in your own neighborhood!

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Some young people of the parish will be receiving First Holy Communion at the 4:00 p.m. Mass on May 12th. If you like to avoid crowds, you may wish to worship at one of the morning Masses that weekend.

GALA AUCTION ITEM: A reserved pew on Christmas Eve will be one of the auction items at the Gala. Have you bought your tickets?

 

St. Mary School Notes…

·       Registration for the 2007-08 school year - grades PK through 8 is underway. If you would like an application or more information about St. Mary School please call the school office at 444-8994.

·       St Mary School Advisory Board (SAB) has one opening for a 3 year term that starts this May.  SAB meets monthly during the school year with Sr. Regina and Fr. Thomas and acts in an advisory capacity. Parish wide elections will be held during Masses the weekend on April 28th and 29th.

·       Grandparents lunch May 8th at 11:00 A.M.

·       May Crowning, May 8th at 12:45 p.m..

ST. LEO and ST. MARY ALUMNI…About 10 sisters of the Joliet Franciscan Community will be joining us for our alumni dinner May 19th after the 4:00 P.M. Mass and for the Gala on the 20th at 5:00 P.M. This year, the sisters of St. Francis centered at Stella Niagara will also be present in good numbers. Use the form below to make a reservation for the informal dinner in the gym Saturday, and use the Gala form to buy tickets for the Sunday event.
