St. Mary’s will host a Protecting God’s Children session on Saturday, August 5th from 12 Noon to 3 PM in the atrium (Burkley Center). The safety of our children and young people is best assured when all adults have been trained and understand how to build a safe environment for children. To register go to www.virtus.org. Fingerprinting must be done at another time either at the Catholic Center 197 E. Gay St. or at one of the area high schools. Please call first to make arrangements.

The Catholic Foundation has established the Kyrie Bequest Society in order to honor and recognize those who have made estate plans to benefit the Church.  If you have made provisions in your will for our parish or any other Catholic organization or wish to do so, please contact Mary Leathley at 614-443-8893.  This is an excellent way to provide permanent funding for our parish while still leaving a legacy to your loved ones.

The Annual Kyrie Bequest Society Mass and Luncheon with Bishop Campbell  will be held on Friday, September 15, 2006.  If you have not yet registered, please do so soon.  You won't want to miss out on this special  invitation.

Diocesan Social Concerns: As we enter into this year’s hurricane season, we hope that last year’s season will not be repeated.  As we look forward with hope, we also need to look back and continue to provide hope and support to those still trying to rebuild their lives after Hurricane Katrina.  The following prayer is being circulated throughout the south.  Please consider praying it daily in solidarity.

Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us.  You, who hovered over the waters and brought all into being, grant us the grace to be people of peace and hope during this 2006 hurricane season.  Help us to trust, to make wise choices, and to offer all we are and do each day for the good of all your creation.  In the name of the one who calmed the waters and winds, Jesus our Brother, we pray.  Amen.

For information about the diocesan efforts to help our sisters and brothers rebuilding their lives after Katrina through the Diocesan Family Relief Fund, please contact the Office for Social Concerns, 614-241-2540 or ecordle@colsdioc.org.

“Am I my brother's keeper?” (Gen 4:9). Yes, every man is his "brother's keeper", because God entrusts us to one another.                        EVANGELIUM VITAE JOHN PAUL II
