From the Pastor

Dear parishioners,

It’s hard to believe, but we are already more than halfway through Lent. I wish to encourage everyone to maintain their Lenten disciplines and to renew our efforts in prayer!  Let us pray that God will help us grow in holiness and love during this time.

I have a bit of good news to report.  I have asked our interim principal, Sr. Regina Snyder, OSF, to be our principal at St. Mary’s for the next school year.  She has graciously agreed to do so.  Please keep her in your prayers, that God will continue to bless her work here at St. Mary’s.

As you know, we have been praying the Stations of the Cross together with the other south side parishes on Friday evenings.  This Friday we will be at Corpus Christi church at 7:00 PM.  There will also be an opportunity to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation during this time.  I have been very pleased with the attendance so far – please come and join us this Friday!

As always, I continue to pray for the Lord’s blessing to be with all of you and your families.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Hammond

Today’s gospel reading reminds us that works done out of love and faithfulness to God bring light and life to a world of darkness.  In the faces of persons across the globe living in abject poverty and migrants seeking a safe haven and a chance to build new lives, we see Jesus in disguise.  How we respond to God by responding to his people in need testifies to the light that we bear and the truth that we share. Please give generously to the CRS Collection.  For more information, please contact the diocesan CRS director, Erin Cordle, at 614-241-2540 or

FYI: The Marriage Information Night will change it’s day from the third Monday of each month to the third Tuesday of each month beginning April 18th. The time and place will remain the same 7 PM in the Burkley center
