Dear parishioners,

If you are reading this on Saturday, please come to our Homecoming Festival tonight!  There’s lots of food, fun, and games, so join us for a good time which also benefits St. Mary’s.  We look forward to seeing you there!

If you are reading this on Sunday, remember that our “festival” is not yet over, since our feast day is tomorrow, the feast of the Assumption.  We will have Mass at 7:00 PM, followed by a procession in honor of Mary through the streets of the neighborhood.  Please join us for the celebration of our feast day and to honor our Blessed Mother!

If you see Adam Streitenberger, our seminarian, this weekend, please take a moment to wish him well.  This is his last weekend with us, as he gets ready to return to his theological studies in Maryland.  Adam already knows the day he will be ordained a deacon – May 6, 2006 – and of course he is looking ahead to his ordination to the priesthood in 2007.  We are very grateful for all he has done for us this summer, and let us promise to keep him in our prayers.  May God bless you, Adam!

It is almost time for the start of a new school year.  The teachers will be here Thursday and Friday for meetings, and school will start the following Wednesday.  Please pray for our faculty, staff, and students, that the Lord will bless us all abundantly in this new school year.

As always, I pray for God’s blessing to be with all of you and your families.

Sincerely in Christ Jesus,

Fr. Hammond

Parish School of Religion: Registration is available for our south vicariate parish school of religion held at St. Ladislas Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Center on Reeb Avenue.  Classes start October 2nd.  You have a choice this year to either attend Sunday morning classes from 9:15am-10:30am or Monday evenings from 4:30pm-5:45pm. Program is for ages 3 years to junior high.  It also can be an excellent supplement to the religious education taught in the school.  Pattie Jones, Coordinator of PSR, will be available at the parish picnic to answer questions.  You can pick up a registration form in the back of Church.  Feel free to send it to Pattie Jones at St. Ladislas or bring it to the parish offices here.  Call 443-2828 for more information, questions, or to set up a tour of the classrooms.

I am most grateful for the many cards and well wishes during my recovery from surgery. I must say I was taken aback by your concern. Now that I have begun to return to my prior activities I’m reminded of the old Gene Autry song “Back in the Saddle Again”. But I’m not done yet. I’ still have a little mending to do. Thanks! Jack Auer.
