FROM THE PASTOR
As I wrote last week, we are happy to welcome Msgr. Paul Langsfeld, the Rector of the Pontifical College Josephinum, at our Masses this weekend. Msgr. Langsfeld will be making an appeal on behalf of the seminary, and this will count for our mission appeal for St. Mary’s this year. I don’t have to tell you how much we have gained from our relationship with the Josephinum, as we have Dr. Michael Ross, the Academic Dean as one of our deacons, and we have had many student deacons and seminarians over the past few years as well. Please support the work of the Josephinum as they prepare the next generation of priests for our Church. Let us also resolve to keep the students and faculty in our prayers.
I would like to
again remind everyone about our upcoming parish Homecoming and Festival, and
our Marian procession. These events
constitute our parish “fiesta”, as they commemorate our feast day, the feast of
St. Mary of the Assumption on August 15th. Our festival takes place on Friday and
Saturday, August 12th and 13th, and on Monday, August 15th,
we will have Mass in the church at followed by the Marian procession
through some of the streets of
Unbelievably, we are moving into August. This Friday is a “first Friday”, and that means we will again have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the Mass, with Adoration throughout the afternoon, concluding with the Rosary, Evening Prayer, and Benediction at . During this “Year of the Eucharist”, I think it is especially important for us to honor Our Lord in this special way of adoration and worship. Please join us in prayer this Friday.
I continue to keep all of you in my prayers. May God bless you and your families!
Sincerely in the Lord Jesus,
