However, please mark your calendar and plan to attend our patroness celebration with 7 PM Mass followed by a candle light procession through the streets of German Village. We will carry the Blessed Mother’s statue and sing Marian hymns. Please bring your family and friends.

Spanish Mass at Corpus Christi: Did you know there are several thousand Hispanic people living within walking distance of Corpus Christi? We are trying to get the word out to them that Father Paul will be celebrating Saturday 4 PM Mass in Spanish at Corpus Christi with live music and a simple welcome afterwards. Dear parishioners,

Thank you for your incredibly generous response to this year’s Bishop’s Annual Appeal.  We have reached our parish goal of $150,000!!  When our development committee first suggested that this be our goal, I looked at them cross-eyed, thinking it was far beyond our reach.  Now I realize that I underestimated the great generosity of the people of St. Mary’s.  I should know better by now, as you have always come forward when asked to do so.  Thank you for your sacrifices for the good of St. Mary parish and school!

Many of you have heard that I am going away for the next couple of weeks.  I am making a trip to the Philippines to visit my friend Fr. Steve Baumbusch, a missionary priest now stationed in Manila.  You may remember him, as he spoke at all the Masses last year when he visited us at St. Mary’s.  His father grew up here in our parish, so Fr. Steve feels a certain connection to us.  Please keep him and all missionaries in your prayers – and please pray that God grant me a safe journey!

Fr. Stanton will be here the next couple of weekends to celebrate the Masses.  I am grateful for his willingness to fill in.  Also, due to the patient work of Adam our seminarian, the weekday Masses are also covered in my absence, thanks to a number of different priests who have agreed to step in.  Please say thanks to these priests when they come!

While we will be separated by many miles, I promise to keep all of you close in my heart and in my prayers.

Sincerely in the Lord Jesus,

Fr. Hammond

Thank you!! We are so grateful for the close to 50 volunteers to teach our Hispanic neighbors to speak and read English. The training sessions for these volunteers are filled up until the end of summer. We will call those still left on the list in late August for the next available training session. If anyone has any questions they can contact Sr. Barbara at 443-2828 ext. 202.

NO White Elephant!! We will not have a White Elephant sale in conjunction with the Homecoming Festival this year. If you have been saving items for it please contact the Young at Heart Club. They will be making a trip to McArthur Ohio August 29th to take clothing, household items, personal products and school supplies to the needy there. Contact Catherine Goodall at 444-6154.

Saint Mary Parish 80th Annual Homecoming Festival is August 12/13.

Last year we ended up having over 70 items including many original art pieces, autographed books, tickets, posters, and vacation spots. This year we are hoping to have even more wonderful items. If you are willing to donate or know of an organization willing to donate, please contact us. Call Sandra Thompson, 444-5811 or Nancy Auer, 445-9668. Remember donations are tax deductible!!

St. Mary Homecoming Festival – Our 80th Homecoming will be here before you know it and of course it takes many hands to make this a fun and profitable event. In you would like to volunteer please call John LaMotte at 469-0899 or 284-3091 and leave your name and number.
