FROM THE PASTOR

Dear parishioners,

Well, the school year is quickly coming to a close and summer is upon us.  Congratulations to our 8th graders who will graduate on Monday!  We pray that the good work the Lord has begun in you will be brought to completion.  Special thanks to our teachers and staff for their hard work all through the school year.  I pray that you all have a good summer, and we look forward to the beginning of a new school year in the fall.

Thanks to all who participated in last Sunday’s Corpus Christi procession.  This gives a visible and public witness to our Catholic faith and our belief in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.  It was especially meaningful this year as we are in the “Year of the Eucharist”.  We should always give thanks to God for such a great gift!

This past Tuesday, Bishop Campbell and the priests of our diocese gathered for Evening Prayer at the cathedral to honor our priests who celebrate significant anniversaries this year.  Tuesday also happened to be the day that the Bishop celebrated his 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood!  In his homily, he reminded us that just as there is no church without the Eucharist, there is no Eucharist without the priesthood.  So let us continue to pray for vocations.  May the Lord send many laborers to gather His harvest!

As always, I pray for the Lord’s blessing to be with all of us at St. Mary’s.

Sincerely in Christ Jesus,

Fr. Hammond
