FROM THE PASTOR

Dear parishioners,

This past week, I announced to the teachers, staff, and parents of our school that we have a new principal who will be starting on July 1st.  His name is Chad Grube, and his family is moving here from the St. Louis area where he has been working and studying the last five years.

Chad is very bright and brings a variety of talents to us.  He is very excited to be coming here, and we look forward to his arrival.  He is actually returning to his home state, as he is originally from Mercer County in western Ohio.  He and his wife have one child and another on the way, due in August.  So they certainly have a lot of changes upcoming in the near future!

To give everyone a chance to meet our new principal, we will have a reception for him on Thursday, May 26th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in the school.  Chad will then stay for the weekend, and will speak briefly at the Masses on May 28th and 29th.  I know you will welcome him warmly to St. Mary’s!

We will also soon have a seminarian staying with us for the summer.  I am happy to report that Adam Streitenberger will be returning to us.  Adam stayed here a few summers ago, but was assigned to work in the diocesan offices downtown.  This time, he will be full-time here at St. Mary’s.  In just one more year he will be ordained a deacon and, in two years, a priest for our diocese.  We definitely look forward to his return to us.  Let us please keep him and all seminarians in our prayers.

Your response to this year’s Bishop’s Annual Appeal to this point has been amazing!!  As of this writing (Wednesday), we have almost $90,000 pledged this year.  That is well over our diocesan goal of $41,535, which means that any additional money will come back to St. Mary’s.  Thank you for your generosity, which will be a great help both to the diocese and to our parish.  May God reward you for your goodness!

As always, I pray for God’s continued blessing to be with all of you and your families.

Sincerely in the Lord Jesus,

Fr. Hammond

DONATIONS FOR THE HOMECOMING SILENT AUCTION are needed – everything from tickets to trinkets, artworks to auto-works, season passes to services, food to football. If you know of an organization willing to donate, please contact us. Call Sandra Thompson, 444-5811 or Nancy Auer, 445-9668.

Until we meet again!

It is hard to believe that our academic school year has come to an end at the Josephinum.  I feel as though I just got here and yet it is time to say goodbye for now.  I will be returning for my final year of studies at the Josephinum at the end of August, so I will be returning to my assignment on the weekends here at St. Mary's with all of you.

I have enjoyed my time with you and have appreciated the love, care, and concern that so many of you have shown me.  All of you have been very welcoming and friendly for that, I thank you. It is not easy being the "new guy”. As Christians we are called to be Christ like to one another and with each of you I have experienced that.

So, until we meet again, thank you for all your prayers and support. St Mary's parish will be in my prayers and I look forward to our time together when I come back in the Fall.

Sincerely, Deacon Tony Steinacker

BAA – We are more than half way there!!! THANK YOU! To date we have $89,290.00 in gifts/pledges. If you have not yet had an opportunity to make your gift/pledge, please do so as soon as possible.
