FROM THE PASTOR

Dear parishioners,

This weekend we begin the 2005 Bishop’s Annual Appeal.  On behalf of Bishop Campbell, I encourage you to be generous in your support of this Appeal, which supports the ministry of the Church in the twenty-three counties which make up the Diocese of Columbus.  In addition, 100% of any money collected over our goal will come back directly to St. Mary’s, and will help us with our many needs.  Our goal for the diocese is $41, 535 – but our parish goal is a total of $150,000.  In order to reach this goal, I am asking each household to consider a gift of at least $600.  As you prayerfully reflect upon a gift in proportion to your financial resources, please know that Bishop Campbell and I are grateful to you for your sacrifice.  If you are unable to give this weekend, please consider making your pledge next weekend, May 7 and 8.

As I wrote last week, Fr. Stanton has moved to the Villas of St. Therese.  He will, however, be back from time to time – in fact, he has the 9:00 Mass this Sunday.  We are grateful for all he has done for us here at St. Mary’s, and we certainly wish him the best in the future.  We will have a reception for him, but since the May calendar is full it will need to wait until June.  As soon as we know the date we’ll let you know, so that you can make plans to give him your best wishes!

This move means that we need to make a change in the daily Mass schedule.  I take Thursdays as my day off, so we will no longer have an 8:30 Mass on Thursdays.  The rest of the schedule will stay the same.

Please remember that this coming Friday is a “first” Friday, which means that we will have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the noon Mass, with Adoration throughout the afternoon, and Rosary, Evening Prayer, and Benediction starting at 5:00 PM.

As always, I pray for God’s blessing to be with all of you and your families!

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Hammond

BAA: All parishioners should have received a mailing from the parish this week. If you did not receive this letter, please call the parish office. Either yours got lost in the mail or for some reason you are not in our census! Our target this year is $41,535 but…we would like to reach the $150,000 mark. Please be a generous as you are able.

BAA: "In preparation for the upcoming Bishop's Annual Appeal, the Development Committee is requesting some assistance. We are in need of volunteers to help follow up with parishioners by phone - we'll be making calls during the weeks of May 14th-23rd; the time commitment is expected to be only a few hours. Please call Cindy Oddi in the parish office if you are able to assist. Many, many thanks for any help you can give!
